Kristen Stewart Reveals Why She Never Smiles for the Paparazzi

 Kristen Stewart has become as famous for her scowl as she is for her acting, and in the September issue of Elle magazine, she reveals why she never smiles. “Now I feel like if I smiled for a paparazzi photo — not that I ever would — that’s exactly what people would be desecrating me for," she shares. "They’d be like, 'Now you’re going to give it up, now you're a sellout.' Like, okay. What do you want? What would you like?" Back in 2012, the "Twilight" star opened up to Vanity Fair about why she doesn't care if the photos that are taken of her aren't picture perfect. "If I took perfect pictures all the time, the people standing in the room with me, or on the carpet, would think, 'What an actress! What a faker!'" she exclaimed at the time. "That thought embarrasses me so much that I look like s--- in half my photos, and I don’t give a f---. 

 
What matters to me is that the people in the room leave and say, 'She was cool. She had a good time. She was honest.'" But in the new interview with Elle, the 24-year-old talks about more than just posing for photos. She also explains why she's not making any plans for the future. "Never at any point have I sat down and plotted how I should proceed from here on," she says. "As soon as you start thinking about your career as a trajectory — like, as if you're going to miss out on some wave or momentum — then you're never doing anything for yourself anyway. Then you're truly, actually, specifically working for the public. You’re turning yourself into a bag of chips."
